Should I get SMP or a hair transplant?
Full comparisonA transplant moves your own hair and takes months to show. SMP shows the same day, but grows nothing. The answer depends on how much hair you have left, not on which one is better.
See the comparisonWhat does it cost, and can I pay monthly?
Rates by stageBetween $1,800 and $5,800 depending on your stage of hair loss, all in, with nothing added at the end. Monthly plans start at $0 down.
See the ratesDoes it hurt? And how long does it last?
Short answerMost people call it uncomfortable, not painful. The pigment fades over the years and gets touched up — it isn't a tattoo that stays put forever.

In-depth guideYes — it's one of the things we do most. The scar doesn't vanish: pigment breaks the contrast so it stops reading as a line.

What Is Scalp Micropigmentation? The Complete Beginner's Guide (2026)
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical hair loss solution that creates the appearance of fuller hair using specialized pigments. Learn how it works, who it's for, how long it lasts, and what results you can expect.
Read the guideWhat SMP is, in three paragraphs
Scalp micropigmentation deposits pigment in the top layer of the scalp, dot by dot, imitating a follicle cut close to the skin. It isn't a tattoo: the needle goes shallower, the pigment is formulated to fade rather than turn blue, and the result gets touched up every few years.
It doesn't grow hair. What it does is give back the shadow that hair loss erased — the hairline, density at the crown, the contrast that makes a shaved head read as a decision rather than a loss.
A session runs two to four hours, and it takes two or three of them a week apart. You leave the studio and go back to work the next day.

you still have
SMP restores the look of density. Minoxidil helps protect the hair that is still alive. It is one of the few over-the-counter actives with real evidence behind it, and the one clients kept asking us about, so we stocked the bottle we actually recommend in consultations: Microfy Minoxidil 5% Foam.
- 5%Foam strengthThe concentration with the strongest clinical track record for regrowth.
